PIPER’S OT GOAL GIVES MISSISSAUGA TOURNAMENT TITLE Charlottetown, PEI – The Mississauga Chiefs overcame a two-goal deficit and defeated the Brampton Canadette-Thunder 3-2 in double overtime to win the club team event at the 2008 Esso Women’s Nationals on Saturday. The Chiefs went down 2-0 at 6:35 of the third when Gillian Apps scored a shorthanded goal for Brampton. Just 48 seconds later, though, Jen Raimondi scored for Mississauga to make it 2-1. Piper tied the game nine seconds after that. Brampton’s Vicky Sunohara opened the scoring in the first period. The game was played in Charlottetown’s Civic Centre before more than 1,100 fans and was carried live by TSN/RDS, Hockey Canada’s official broadcasters.
