MIDGET SERIES | FRI. JAN. 29

Jayna Hefford and Meghan Agosta each had a hat trick and 10 players scored goals as Canada wrapped up its pre-Olympic schedule with a rout of the Midget AA All-Stars in Jasper, Alta. Fifteen different players had a point in the win.

 

CANADA 4 – FLAMES 5 (SO)
MIDGET SERIES | FRI. JAN. 29

Gillian Apps, Meghan Agosta and Sarah Vaillancourt scored in a span of 4:51 to give Canada a 4-2 third-period lead, but the Canadians faltered late and fell to the Flames in a shootout. Caroline Ouellette had the other Canadian goal.

CANADA 5 - ROYALS 4 (SO) | MIDGET SERIES | WED. JAN. 27
Jayna Hefford led the way for Canada, scoring three times, including the game-tying goal late in the third period, and adding the shootout winner as Canada improved to 16-9 in the NWT Midget Series with a victory over the Royals.

CANADA 5 - EDMONTON MLAC 2 | MIDGET SERIES | FRI. JAN. 22
Marie-Philip Poulin scored twice and Jayna Hefford added a goal and two assists as Canada wrapped up its NWT Midget Series road schedule with a win in Edmonton. Shannon Szabados earned the win in goal in her hometown.

CANADA 2 – LLOYDMINSTER 5 | MIDGET SERIES | THU. JAN. 21
Canada’s National Women’s Team has dropped two consecutive games in the Alberta Midget Series, following a 5-2 loss to the Lloydminster Bobcats on Thursday night. Sarah Vaillancourt and Catherine Ward scored for Canada.

CANADA 3 – FT. SASKATCHEWAN 5 | MIDGET SERIES | TUE. JAN. 19
Haley Irwin scored once and added an assist to pace the offence, but Canada ran into hot goaltending and fell to the Rangers. Marie-Philip Poulin and Rebecca Johnston scored the other goals for Canada, which dropped to 14-8.

CANADA 8 – EDMONTON CAC 4 | MIDGET SERIES | WED. JAN. 13
Canada’s National Women’s Team used a balance scoring attack during an 8-4 win over the Edmonton CAC Canadians on Wednesday night. Hayley Wickenheiser led the way with a pair of goals and six other players added singles.

CANADA 2 – SHERWOOD PARK 5 | MIDGET SERIES | TUE. JAN. 12
Canada erased a multiple-goal deficit once, but couldn’t do it a second time in a loss to the Kings on Tuesday night. Marie-Philip Poulin and Gina Kingsbury scored for Canada, which fell to 13-7 in Midget Series action this season.

CANADA 4 – ST. ALBERT 2 | MIDGET SERIES | SUN. JAN. 10
Jayna Hefford scored twice and added an assist as Canada ran its NWT Midget Series record to 13-6 with a win over the AMHL’s top team. Meghan Agosta and Sarah Vaillancourt added a goal apiece in the Canadian victory.

UNITED STATES 2 - CANADA 3 (SO) | EXHIBITION | FRI. JAN. 1
Jayna Hefford scored the lone goal of the shootout as Canada wrapped up a sweep of its six-game pre-Olympic series with a victory in Ottawa. The game was played in front of the largest crowd ever to watch a women's game in Canada.

CANADA 2 – UNITED STATES 1 | EXHIBITION | WED. DEC. 30
Haley Irwin and Colleen Sostorics scored the goals as Canada moved to 5-0 in the six-game series and earned its fourth win in a row against its southern rivals with a victory in St. Paul. Sostorics finished with two points.

CANADA 3 – LETHBRIDGE 2 | MIDGET SERIES | FRI. DEC. 18
Marie-Philip Poulin scored the game-winning goal with 2:04 to go as Canada fought back from a late-second-period deficit to knock off the Titans. Jayna Hefford and Meghan Agosta had a goal and an assist each in the Canadian victory.

CANADA 1 – MEDICINE HAT 2 | MIDGET SERIES | THU. DEC. 17
Jayna Hefford scored the game’s opening goal, but Canada failed to hold the lead and dropped a one-goal decision to the Tigers in the first half of a back-to-back. The loss moved the Canadians to 11-6 in NWT Midget Series play.

CANADA 6 – UNITED STATES 2 | EXHIBITION | TUE. DEC. 15
Jayna Hefford had two goals and an assist, Caroline Ouellette added a goal and two helpers and Meghan Agosta had three assists as Canada clinched a win its its six-game series against the U.S. with a victory in Calgary.

CANADA 4 – UNITED STATES 2 | EXHIBITION | SAT. DEC. 12
Meghan Agosta scored once and added an assist and Jayna Hefford had a pair of helpers as the Canadians earned at least a split of their six-game series against the U.S. Kim St-Pierre made 27 saves to record the victory in goal.

CANADA 3 – UFA 1 | MIDGET SERIES | MON. DEC. 7
Charline Labonté's 39 saves were the story as Canada earned the victory over the Bisons, getting revenge for an Oct. 22 loss. Caroline Ouellette, Jayna Hefford and Gina Kingsbury scored the Canadian goals in the win.

CANADA 3 - CANUCKS 2 | EXHIBITION | SAT. DEC. 5
Shannon Szabados’ 52-save performance was the story as Canada earned the victory in its first-ever game against Junior A competition. Jayna Hefford, Meghan Agosta and Caroline Ouellete scored the goals in the win.

CANADA 7 – NORTHSTARS 1 | MIDGET SERIES | THU. DEC. 3
The line of Meghan Agosta, Jayna Hefford and Caroline Ouellette combined for seven points as Canada equalled its biggest Midget Series offensive output with a lopsided win over the Northstars. Hefford led the way with two goals.

CANADA 1 – RED DEER 3 | MIDGET SERIES | TUE. DEC. 1
Kim St-Pierre made 47 saves, 35 in the first 40 minutes, but Canada could only manage one goal in a loss to the Optimist Rebels. Haley Irwin scored for Canada, which split its two NWT Midget Series games at Red Deer Arena.
