PERSEVERANCE AND PASSION
Not many players – if any – have appeared in the Memorial Cup and IPC World Para Hockey Championship, but not many players have followed a career path like Kieran Block.
The 14 athletes attending Canada’s National Para Hockey Team Training Camp, presented by Canadian Tire, have been split into two teams (Red and White) of seven, and will face off in 3-on-3 scrimmages on Jan. 22, Jan. 23 and Jan. 25. The scrimmages will use ¾ of the ice, and will feature three 10-minute periods and a three-minute break in between each period. If the score remains tied at the end of regulation, the teams will play a three-minute, 2-on-2 sudden death overtime period.
Game Summary
RED 5 – WHITE 0 (Scrimmage #3)
James Dunn (Wallacetown, Ont.) was the offensive star once again, scoring another hat trick – this one of the natural variety – to lead Red to a 5-0 win over White in the third and final scrimmage Monday at Canada’s National Para Hockey Team Training Camp, presented by Canadian Tire. Dunn struck three times in the first period to post his second hat-trick performance in a row and give Red all the offence it would need. Anthony Culmone (Mississauga, Ont.) and Micah Kovacevich (Edmonton, Alta.) added goals in the second period and Jean-Francois Huneault (Saint-Eustache, Que.) closed the door from there to earn the shutout. Red swept the camp series, outscoring White 21-9 over the trio of 3-on-3 scrimmages.
