Emily Fulton scored on a high shot and Katy Josephs popped one in from a pass out front, but it wasn't enough for the gold and Canada suffered a 5-2 loss to the U.S. at the 2011 IIHF World Women's Under-18 Championship.

 

FINLAND 3 - CZECH REPUBLIC 0
BRONZE MEDAL | SAT. JAN. 8

Susanna Tapani scored in the first, while both Jenni Oinonen and Saana Valkama lit up the lamp in the second period, to help Finland claim world championship bronze medal bragging rights over the Czech Republic at Stora Mossen arena Saturday afternoon in Stockholm.

 

CANADA 6 - FINLAND 1

Ann-Renée Desbiens made some outstanding saves and six different players contributed goals during Canada's 6-1 victory over Finland in semifinal action Friday, earning the National Women's Under-18 Team the chance to defend its world championship gold medal.

 

GERMANY 1 – CANADA 8

Nicole Kosta had a hat trick, Sarah MacDonnell contributed a couple of power play goals and an assist and nine players contributed at least one point to the score sheet Tuesday in Canada's 8-1 romping of Germany, earning the U18s a spot in the semifinals.

Laura Stacey contributed a couple of markers and an assist, while Sarah Robson, Katarina Zgraja, Gina Repaci and Nicole Kosta also had goals in Canada's 6-0 win over Finland on Day 2 of the 2011 IIHF World Women's Under-18 Championship in Sweden.

 

CANADA 9 - SWITZERLAND 1

Amanda Makela was stellar between the posts Saturday, in what was her international debut and Canada's opening game of the 2011 IIHF World Women's Under-18 Championship, while Meghan Dufault, Rebecca Kohler and Cayley Mercer added three points each to the win.
