Alexandre Parr

My Team Canada - Alexandre Parr : 12/21/2009

Drummondville, Que., native Alexandre Parr has risen to the top of music in Quebec as the guitarist in the band Les Trois Accords, which was named group of the year in 2005 at the Felix Awards, the Grammys of Quebec, and earned album of the year in 2007 for Grand champion international de course. That was the group’s second album, after the critically-acclaimed 2004 release Gros Mammouth album turbo, and their third, Dans mon corps, hit the shelves in October 2009. The group was a part of the Toronto leg of the Live 8 concert series, and opened for The Rolling Stones at their Toronto and Moncton concerts.

Goaltenders: It’s always difficult to choose a goaltender from the greatest goaltender hotbed in the world. We could have given a chance to young ones like Pascal Leclaire (nine shutouts before his injury) and Steve Mason (10 shutouts last season). Marc-André Fleury, the new veteran with his Cup and six seasons in Pittsburgh, will have to wait for another leap year. Although Brodeur has already won gold, his 2-0 loss to Switzerland at the last Olympics in Torino has made me doubt his leadership in the locker room. My number one choice is Roberto Luongo, a large curly goaltender who is waiting for his chance.

Defence: Respect and toughness is what it’s all about for Canada this year. Pronger and Phaneuf will instill fear in all those who dare to confront them in the corners. Niedermayer, with his salt and pepper facial hair, is the epitome of stability. The new star in town, Shea Weber, will be able to make a name for himself among poolies for next year. Mike Green takes down Colonel Mustard with the candlestick in the living room. Dan Boyle stays away from all that has a cutting edge.

Forwards: What a club my friends! Just imagine Iginla in the corner with the puck and an opponent on his back. He shakes him, passes the puck to Heatley who then passes it between his legs to Crosby who shoots and scores! I would like to see Martin St-Louis play on a line with Joe Thornton and Rick Nash. What an attack! This way, Vinny Lecavalier could play alongside Patrick Sharp and Ryan Smyth on the fourth line. My third line would consist of Ryan Getzlaf, Patrick Marleau and Simon Gagné. All of this in my book entitled ‘They Are All First Lines.’ Any one of these combinations can be a first line. We are hoping for revenge against Ovechkin, Malkin and the Russians. Nothing else but gold will do!
