Canada got goals from Norm Milley, Scott King and Pascal Trépanier and Fred Brathwaite stopped all 36 shots he faced for Canada’s second-straight shutout as the National Men’s Team claimed the 2008 Deutschland Cup with a 3-0 win over Germany. Photo Gallery

 

CANADA 3 - SWITZERLAND 0
DEUTSCHLAND CUP | SAT. NOV. 8

Mathieu Biron, Pascal Trepanier and Derek Hahn scored the goals and Jamie Storr made 22 saves for the shutout as Canada stayed undefeated with a 3-0 win over Switzerland. Canada can claim its fourth Deutschland Cup with a win over Germany on Sunday.

 

CANADA 5 - SLOVAKIA 2
DEUTSCHLAND CUP | FRI. NOV. 7

Justin Papineau scored twice and added an assist and Richie Regehr had a goal and two helpers as Canada’s National Men’s Team opened the 2008 Deutschland Cup with a 5-2 win over Slovakia on Friday. Canada held a 47-17 advantage in shots on goal.

 

CANADA 2 - SWITZERLAND 4
SWISS CHALLENGE | TUE. NOV. 4

Martin Kariya and Serge Aubin had a goal and an assist apiece and Canada held a 34-21 advantage in shots on goal, but it was Switzerland who came out victorious in the Swiss Challenge on Tuesday, winning 4-2 in front of almost 5,300 fans in Rapperswil.

 

IN MEMORIAM
JIM KOLEFF (1953 – 2008)

Jim Koleff, 54, passed away on Sunday, November 2 in Lausanne, Switzerland after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A native of Hamilton, ON, Koleff had been in Europe since 1977, first as a player then a successful coach. As an assistant coach with Canada’s National Men’s Team, he helped Canada win the 2007 Spengler Cup. Hockey Canada extends its condolences to Jim’s family and many friends throughout the hockey world.

 

ROSTERS ANNOUNCED FOR SWISS CHALLENGE, 2008 DEUTSCHLAND CUP

Canada’s National Men’s Team will take to the ice in Switzerland and Germany next month, and 41 players will don the maple leaf at the Swiss Challenge and the 2008 Deutschland Cup, all of them Canadians playing in European leagues. » more
