Game Summary

Dynamo Moscow 3 - Canada 6 (Final)

CANADA INTO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AT 2008 SPENGLER CUP

DAVOS, Switzerland – For the eighth time in nine years, Canada will play for the Spengler Cup.

Jeff Toms scored once and added two assists and six different Canadians scored goals as the defending champions moved into the championship game with a 6-3 win over previously-undefeated Moscow Dynamo from Russia.

The same two teams will meet for the title on Wednesday (6 a.m. EST/3 a.m. PST, live on Rogers Sportsnet).

Jean-Guy Trudel, Jay Harrison, Ric Jackman, Martin Kariya and Serge Aubin joined Toms on the scoresheet for the Canadians, who outshot the Russian club 33-26, including 17-7 in the decisive second period.

Leading 2-0 after 20 minutes on early goals from Toms and Trudel, Canada outscored Moscow 3-1 in the second frame to take control and book a spot in the final.

Harrison pushed the Canadian lead to three just past the midway point of the period and, after Mattias Weinhandl had become the first Moscow player to beat Canadian netminder Daren Machesney, Jackman and Kariya scored late goals to put the game out of reach heading to the third.

Aubin made it 6-1 early in the final period before Ivan Neprjaev and Dmitri Shitikov beat Machesney in the final two minutes to round out the scoring.

Canada will look for its 12th Spengler Cup on Wednesday, while Moscow Dynamo will try to become the first team since Metallurg Magnitogorsk in 2005 to claim the cup.
