TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – BROOKS BANDITS
In the AJHL this season there were the Brooks Bandits, and then there was everyone else. The Bandits absolutely dominated Alberta, setting league records for wins and points in a season, posting a 53-4-3 record for 109 points, 29 ahead of second-place Okotoks, and holding onto the No. 1 spot in the CJHL national rankings for the final 22 weeks of the season. Brooks finished with a remarkable +176 goal differential (Okotoks had the next best mark at +41), scoring 289 goals while allowing only 113, both far and away the best in the AJHL. Led by Cam Maclise’s 83 points, the Bandits had four players break the 60-point barrier, all of whom finished in the top seven of league scoring. In goal, Michael Frederick carried the load for Brooks, finishing with a 42-2-2 record and a 1.90 goals-against average, good for second in the league behind only back-up Devon Fordyce, who had a 1.61 mark in 13 games.
