TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – CARLETON PLACE CANADIANS
Absolute dominance. There’s no better way to describe the Canadians during the 2013-14 season; they turned the CCHL into their personal playground, leading the league in goals for, goals against, power play, home record and road record. Carleton Place put together two winning streaks of at least 15 games, including an 18-game run from Jan. 10 to Feb. 27, and enters the postseason having not lost a road game since Nov. 1, a span of 16 games. The Canadians weren’t too bad at home either, losing just once in regulation in 31 games as the host. Carleton Place’s offence scored 34 goals more than any other team, led by the dynamic duo of Andy Sturtz and Evan Peterson, who finished one-two in the CCHL scoring race. The Canadians had five players average at least a point a game, and nine reached double-digits in goals. The defence was just as good, allowing a league-low 149 goals, 25 less than Smiths Falls. Guillaume Therien saw most of the action in the Carleton Place net, finishing third in wins, and second in goals-against average and save percentage.
