CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada announced Wednesday that Caroline Ouellette (Montreal, Que./Montreal, CWHL) has been added to Canada’s National Women’s Team roster for the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship, which runs from March 28 to April 4 in Malmö, Sweden.

Ouellette replaces Haley Irwin (Thunder Bay, Ont./Calgary, CWHL), who is injured and unable to participate.

A member of Canada’s National Women’s Team since the 1999-2000 season, Ouellette sits third in all-time scoring with Team Canada with 238 points (85 goals, 153 assists) in 215 international games. She has won four gold medals at the Olympic Winter Games (2002, 2006, 2010, 2014), including captaining the team at the most recent Games in Sochi, Russia, and is a six-time gold medallist at the IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship (1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2012).

It was also announced Wednesday that goaltender Erica Howe (Orleans, Ont./Brampton, CWHL) will participate in pre-competition camp while Ann-Renée Desbiens (La Malbaie, Que./University of Wisconsin, WCHA) and Emerance Maschmeyer (Bruderheim, Alta./Harvard University, ECAC) are competing with their club teams at the NCAA Frozen Four. Forward Emily Clark (Saskatoon, Sask./University of Wisconsin, WCHA) will also be participating in the NCAA Frozen Four, and will miss the start of camp.

Clark, Desbiens and Maschmeyer will join Team Canada at the conclusion of the NCAA season.

Team Canada’s pre-competition camp runs from March 18-24 at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto, Ont. All ice times are open to the public.

Canada’s National Women’s Team will depart for Sweden on March 24, and will open the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship against the United States on March 28.
