TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – MARKHAM WAXERS
If the last few months of the regular season are any indication, the Markham Waxers will be a force to be reckoned with in the ETA and OMHA playoffs. The Waxers finished the season on a 23-1-5 run, claiming first place by eight points over the South Central Coyotes in the West Division, and by six over Whitby in the overall standings. Markham had an impressive +58 goal differential, finishing second in the league with 109 goals scored, while leading the way with just 51 goals against in 34 games, nine less than second-place Whitby. Stefan Von Engelbrechten paced the Waxers offence with 28 points (17 goals, 11 assists) in 30 games, and goaltender Trent Kestin had an ETA-leading 20 wins.
