TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – MISSISSAUGA REBELS
For the first time in a long time, a team other than the Sault Ste. Marie North Stars or Sudbury Nickel
Capital Wolves finished the regular season atop the Great North Midget League standings as the Nickel City
Sons ran away with first place, finishing 15 points ahead of the North Stars, thanks in large part to a 4-1
record against Sault Ste. Marie. Both the Sons’ offence and defence finished No. 1 in the GNML; Nickel City’s
180 goals were 27 more than Sault Ste. Marie’s – almost a full goal per game – and 79 goals against were
eight less than the North Stars. The trio of Cody Gratton (68 points), Alex Bottigoni (61 points) and
Mitchell Byrne (52 points) were second, third and fourth, respectively, in GNML scoring, leading an offence
that placed five players in the top 13.
