OTTAWA - The Corel Centre announced today that Team Canada’s pre-World Cup of Hockey training camp donated a total of $78,955 to the Ottawa Senators Foundation, Canadian Hockey Foundation and the NHLPA Goals & Dreams program.

The monies came from admission to Canada’s intra-squad game (Aug. 24), and the sale of line-up sheets and the 50-50 draw from the three exhibition games at the Corel Centre - Canada vs. USA on Aug. 25, Canada vs. Slovakia Aug. 28 and Slovakia vs. Russia Aug. 29. In addition, on-line jersey auctions took place from jerseys worn by Team Canada players in the intra-squad game and the game against Slovakia.

The Ottawa Senators Foundation received $33,413, which will be directed to Roger’s House, $36,445 went to the Canadian Hockey Foundation and $9,097 to NHLPA Goals & Dreams fund with a portion being directed to Roger’s House on behalf of the NHLPA members.

The Ottawa Senators Foundation’s mandate is to provide gifts and gifts in kind to registered Canadian charities and bursaries to post-secondary institutions within the Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec region. The primary focus of their assistance is toward disadvantaged youth.

The Canadian Hockey Foundation, working with the Hockey Canada team, puts gifts to work to help ensure Canada remains at the forefront in the development and promotion of amateur hockey. The Foundation provides a new source of secure, sustainable, long term funding to support the future development and delivery of Hockey Canada programs, projects, and activities.

The NHLPA’s Goals & Dreams fund was launched in 1999 as a way for the players to give something back to the game they love. Over 7,000 underprivileged children in 17 countries have benefited directly through the donation of full sets of equipment. In addition, over 75 ice re-surfacers and more than 110 sets of boards and glass were provided to community arenas in small towns in Europe and North America. To date, the program has donated more than $15-million to grassroots hockey programs around the world.

Roger’s House, built in Ottawa in memory of the late Roger Neilson, will promote the celebration of life and pediatric palliative care including respite care for children, youth and families, anchored in an innovative, family-centered, holistic approach.
