Canada's National Women's Begins Training Camp in Sarnia, on Prior to the 2000 IIHF Women's World Hockey Championship
CALGARY, AB - Canada's National Women's Team gets together in Sarnia, Ontario on March 26th as the team begins final preparations for the 2000 IIHF Women's World Hockey Championship, the Canadian Hockey Association announced on Wednesday.
Head coach Melody Davidson and assistant coaches Karen Hughes and Wally Kozak will run the team through two-a-day practices, as well as two exhibition games as Canada attempts to capture it's sixth consecutive World Championship title. For the exhibition games, Canada will face Germany in Kitchener, ON on March 29th and Sweden in Sarnia, ON on April 1st.
"For everyone involved, it has been a year long journey and very soon the 2000 Worlds will become a reality," said Davidson. "It will be a terrific experience for each and every team member, one we will treasure forever."
Players and coaches will be available for interviews onsite after practices and games. All media requests for phone interviews can be directed to André Brin. Due to the team's schedule, phone interviews will be limited. All practices will take place at the Sarnia, ON Sports & Entertainment Centre. All times listed below are Eastern.
