TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – SUDBURY NICKEL CAPITAL WOLVES
After a year away, the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves were back on top of the Great North Midget League in 2013-14, squeezing past North Bay by just three points to take top spot. The Wolves’ offence finished tied for second in the league with 120 goals, even though it did not have a single player in the top 10 of GNML scoring – Anthony Pelletier was one of just three Sudbury forwards to crack the top 20, finishing with 31 points in 30 games, good for 11th spot. The defence was the key for the Wolves; Sudbury allowed just 88 goals, 14 less than any other team, and goaltender MacKenzie Savard was the lone GNML netminder to finish with a goals-against average under 3.00. His 2.52 mark was the league’s best, while Mathieu Kingsley, who split the games with Savard almost right down the middle, was fourth at 3.23.
