TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – VALLEY WEST HAWKS

The Valley West Hawks picked up points in 34 of 40 games to comfortably sit atop the B.C. Major Midget League standings, six points up on the Cariboo Cougars. Valley West opened its season by going unbeaten in its first eight games, and ended it with a 13-game winning streak, taking momentum into the postseason. The Hawks defence allowed 95 goals - the third fewest in the league - but they were even more impressive on offence, scoring 210 goals, 17 more than their nearest rivals. A quick glance at the league’s top scorers explains Valley West’s high-scoring exploits; Ben Evanish recorded a league-best 41 goals and 70 points and was joined by seven other Hawks among the BCMML’s top-20 point getters, including four in the top 10.
