CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada, in partnership with USA Hockey, announced Wednesday the return of the Rivalry Series between Canada’s National Women’s Team and the U.S. Women’s National Team.

Following the success of the event last February, the 2019-20 Rivalry Series will feature an expanded five-game schedule, with Canada set to host three games. The first Canadian stop will see the cross-border rivals face off at the Avenir Centre in Moncton, N.B., home of the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. AT. The series resumes Monday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. PT at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, B.C., home of the Victoria Royals of the Western Hockey League, before the Canadian portion concludes at Rogers Arena, home of the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks, on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. PT.

The series also features games Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. ET in Hartford, Conn., and Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. PT in Anaheim, Calif.

The Rivalry Series was launched as an opportunity to feature the top players from Canada and the United States to fans in both countries. More than 17,000 fans attended games in London and Toronto, Ont., with Canada claiming the inaugural series following a victory over the U.S. in Detroit, Mich.

“Last year, we had overwhelming support at all three games, and we will continue to build on that success this year with more games and more opportunities for fans to watch the best players in the world,” said Gina Kingsbury, Hockey Canada’s director of women’s national teams. “The Rivalry Series provides an opportunity to continue to build the intense rivalry we have established with the United States through world championships and the Olympics, while giving us the chance to showcase our game and inspire the next generation as they watch their hockey heroes.”

Tickets will be available for purchase for as low as $18 beginning Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. local time at HockeyCanada.ca/Tickets. Group pricing options for 10 or more tickets will also be available in each Canadian city starting Nov. 13.

The Rivalry Series is the final best-on-best competition Canada’s National Women’s Team will play prior to the 2020 IIHF Women’s World Championship, set for March 31-April 10 in Halifax and Truro, N.S. Canada has won 10 gold medals at the IIHF Women’s World Championship, in addition to eight silver medals and one bronze, and will look to top the podium for the first time since 2012.
