CALGARY, Alta. – Johnny Misley, Hockey Canada’s executive vice-president of hockey operations since 2002, has resigned from Hockey Canada to pursue other professional opportunities in hockey.

Misley, a native of Vancouver, B.C., has been with Hockey Canada since 1998, when he joined the organization as director of development after serving for seven years as a project coordinator with BC Hockey.

In his most recent position with Hockey Canada, Misley was responsible for providing leadership, direction and program management for Canada’s national teams at world championships, World Cups, and Olympic and Paralympic Games.  He also worked closely with Hockey Canada’s member branches to ensure the continued and enhanced growth of hockey in Canada at all levels.

“It is with mixed emotions that I have come to my decision, having spent almost twelve exciting years at Hockey Canada,” said Misley. “While I enjoyed my time at Hockey Canada culminating with being part of Canada’s recent two gold medal hockey wins at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, I felt this was the best time for me to pursue other professional opportunities in the game. I look forward to the challenges that are in my future. I would like to thank the passionate and dedicated staff and volunteers I have worked with over the years as I leave with many fond memories and experiences.”

Hockey Canada’s executive committee, comprised of Nicholson, Chief Operating Officer Scott Smith and Chief Financial Officer Paul Delparte, will be looking at overall operations by the end of the season.
