October 20, 2009

Communities throughout Saskatchewan – Humboldt, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina, Swift Current, Unity and Weyburn – will play host to games involving the top under-20 teams in the world.

It’s exciting that cities and towns throughout the hockey-mad province of Saskatchewan will get the chance to see the rising stars of the game,” says Scott Smith, chief operating officer of Hockey Canada. “We expect great crowds at each of these games.”

Saskatoon and Regina will play host to all games during the championship. The pre-competition games will give fans outside the two major centres the chance to be a part of the event.

“As a host committee, these games are our opportunity to share this event with communities outside of Saskatoon and Regina,” says Jack Brodsky, president of the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship host organizing committee. “These communities will have the chance to show our visiting teams what Saskatchewan hospitality is all about.
