CJAHL in partnership with Hockey Canada announced today the two individuals who will perform the role of General Manager for Team Canada East and Team Canada West at the 2007 World Junior A Challenge.

Team Canada East announced today that they have appointed Marty Abrams from the Wellington Dukes of the OPJHL, as their General Manager.

“Marty is an excellent candidate for this position. His strong track record as GM and Coach of the Wellington Dukes, one of Canada’s highest ranked Junior A franchises, makes him an ideal selection, “ announced the CJAHL Representative for Team Canada East, Brent Ladds. “In addition, Marty has hands-on experience with Team Canada hockey clubs as he acted as Assistant Coach for Team Canada East at the 2006 World Junior A Challenge, and Head Coach for Team Canada at the 2006 Junior A Grand Prix in St. Petersburg, Russia.”

Team Canada West announced today that they have appointed Darcy Rota from the Burnaby Express of the BCHL, as their General Manager.

“Darcy brings a competitive fire to this position and a sincere passion for excellence. He has outstanding skills that will help the Junior A leagues in the west establish a solid foundation for this important hockey development program we are building,” declared the CJAHL Representative for Team Canada West, Kim Davis. “Darcy did a tremendous job building a gold medal winning team for us last year at the World Junior A Challenge. His team thoroughly displayed his mantra of character, courage, and commitment. Year two will be a significant challenge and we are confident that Darcy will rise to the occasion yet again.”

The 2007 World Junior A Challenge will take place from November 4th to 11th in Trail and Nelson, BC. Canada will look to continue its success at the event, as Team Canada East played Team Canada West in the championship finals of the 2006 World Junior A Challenge, winning silver and gold respectively.

The CJAHL is an amalgamation of ten Junior A hockey leagues from across Canada. More information on the CJAHL can be found by clicking on the league website, www.cjahl.com
