MANNHEIM, Germany – Mark Messier, Canada’s general manager for the 2010 IIHF World Championship, along with head coach Craig MacTavish, announced several roster moves for Canada at the world championship, which runs May 7-23 in Cologne and Mannheim, Germany. Canada opens the qualification round on Friday afternoon in Mannheim against Norway. The game will be broadcast live on both TSN/RDS at 8:15 a.m. ET/5:15 a.m. PT. Check local listings for broadcast details in your area.

Canada officially registered forward Jordan Eberle (Regina, Sask./Regina, WHL), an Edmonton Oilers’ draft pick, with the International Ice Hockey Federation. Eberle has been with the team as an alternate player since it convened as a group on May 2. He was activated on the evening of May 13 and is eligible for Canada’s first qualification round game on May 14.

Canada also added forward Mason Raymond (Cochrane, Alta./Vancouver, NHL) and goaltender Devan Dubnyk (Calgary, Alta./Edmonton, NHL). Both players are on their way to Germany from Canada and will join the team either Friday or Saturday.

Canada has now registered the maximum of 25 players for the 2010 IIHF World Championship. That includes three goaltenders, eight defencemen and 13 forwards. The 25th registered player, Ryan Smyth, has returned to Canada after suffering an injury earlier this week.

Messier is joined on the management staff by Hockey Canada director of men’s national teams Scott Salmond, Doug Risebrough, Michel Goulet and Doug Messier.

Canada’s coaching staff is comprised of head coach Craig MacTavish (London, Ont.), associate coach Peter DeBoer (Dunnville, Ont./Florida, NHL) and assistant coach Billy Moores (Edmonton, Alta./Edmonton, NHL)
