YARMOUTH, N.S. – Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Junior Hockey League and 2012 World Junior A Challenge host committee, have announced that less than 400 full-tournament ticket packages remain for the 2012 World Junior A Challenge, Nov. 5-11 in Yarmouth.

Packages are available for just $210 and include tickets to all 13 games, including six preliminary round games, two quarter-finals, two semifinals, a CJHL Prospects Game, the bronze medal game and nationally-televised gold medal game.

Everyone who purchases a full-tournament ticket package prior to March 1 will be entered to a win a Team Canada jersey autographed by Canada’s bronze medal-winning National Junior Team from the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The 2012 World Junior A Challenge will follow the same format as previous years: two Canadian entries – Canada East and Canada West – will be joined by four international teams, with two groups of three teams. The group winners will receive an automatic bye to the semifinals, while the second- and third-place teams will crossover for the quarter-finals. All 13 games of the 2012 World Junior A Challenge will take place at the Mariners Centre, home of the MHL’s Yarmouth Mariners.

Since the first World Junior A Challenge in 2006 in Yorkton and Humboldt, Sask., more than 100 NHL draft picks have played in the tournament, including 13 first-round selections (Beau Bennett, Alexander Burmistrov, Joe Colborne, Nikita Filatov, Dmitri Kulikov, Evgeny Kuznetsov, John Moore, Vladislav Namestnikov, Riley Nash, Dylan Olsen, Jaden Schwartz, Brendan Smith and Kyle Turris).

Every gold medal game at the World Junior A Challenge has featured at least one Canadian team. Canada West won gold in 2006, 20, and took silver in 20. Canada East was silver medallist in 2006, 2007, 20 and claimed bronze in 2008.
