TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – SUDBURY NICKEL CAPITAL WOLVES

The Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves made it look fairly easy in the Great North Midget League, cruising to the top of the regular season standings with a 14-point lead over second-place Kapuskasing. Sudbury finished atop the GNML with the most goals scored (155), fewest goals against (122), and fewest penalty minutes (488). Once the calendar flipped to 2016 Sudbury was virtually unbeatable, winning 11 of its 14 games, including a six-game streak from Jan. 22-Feb. 9. The Wolves were paced on offence by Kyle Liinamaa, whose 25 goals and 39 assists left him just one point behind scoring champion Lucas Theriault of Sault Ste. Marie. On the back end, Justin Richer played more minutes than any other goaltender (1,392), and posted the league’s best goals-against average at 3.19.
