Marie-Philip Poulin scored the game-winning goal in the last minute of the first period as Canada advanced to the gold medal game. Rebecca Johnston, Jayna Hefford and Hayley Wickenheiser also scored.

Shannon Szabados recorded Canada’s third straight shutout – by its third different goaltender – as the Canadians clinched first in Group B. Rebecca Johnston and Jayna Hefford scored the goals for Canada.

Meaghan Mikkelson scored twice to pace the offence and Kim St-Pierre turned aside all 13 shots she faced as Canada posted its second shutout victory in as many days, outshooting the Kazakhs 71-13.

Ten different Canadians scored goals – led by a hat trick from Cherie Piper – as Canada opened the Women's Worlds with a rout of Switzerland. Tessa Bonhomme added a goal and three assists in the victory.
