MEN’S NATIONAL TEAM WINS BRONZE AT THE 2004 LOTO CUP

PIESTANY, SLOVAKIA - Canada's National Men’s Team captured the bronze medal today at the 2004 Loto Cup in Piestany, Slovakia with a 4-2 loss to Slovakia.

Team Canada opened the tournament on Dec.16 with a 3-2 win over Austria. Canada then tied Switzerland 2-2 on Dec. 17, and closed out the tournament with a loss to the host Slovakians 4-2, giving them the bronze medal and a 1-1-1 record.» summary

 

TEAM CANADA PLAYS TO 2-2 TIE WITH SWTZERLAND

Team Canada tied Switzerland today 2-2 in the second game of the Loto Cup.  Jamie Heward and Jason Deleurme scored for Team Canada.

The tournament format does not allow for overtime so each team earned one point.  The tie leaves Canada with three points and Switzerland with one.  A win against the Slovaks tomorrow would give Canada the Gold Medal while a loss combined with a Switzerland win would give Canada the Bronze Medal.

TEAM CANADA OPENS LOTO CUP WITH A WIN OVER AUSTRIA

Team Canada opened the 2004 Loto Cup with a 3-2 victory over the Austrian National Team. Warren Norris scored a short handed goal with just over 5 minutes remaining in the game to secure the victory. Dan Ellis from the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL) played in goal for the Canadians.  Jame Pollock, Hnat Domenichelli and Warren Norris were the goal scorers for Team Canada.

SLOVAKIA BEATS CANADA 4-2 IN A TUNEUP FOR THE LOTO CUP

Marian Hossa of the Ottawa Senators beat Team Canada goalie Frederic Chabot of Herbertville, Que., who was named Canada's player of the game, two times before completing the hat trick with an empty-net goal. Atlanta Thrashers forward Lubos Bartecko also scored for the Slovakians.» summary
