Team Canada to Hold Pre-World Championship Mini-Camp at Beatrice Ice Gardens April 23-25
CALGARY, AB --Canada's Men's World Championship team will hold a three-day mini-camp at the Beatrice Ice Gardens on the York University Campus in Toronto, ON from April 23rd through the 25th, the Canadian Hockey Association announced Wednesday.
The team, comprised of 17 NHL players and 7 National team members will be gathering in Toronto on Thursday, April 22nd for a three-day camp that will take place at the Beatrice Ice Gardens at York University.
Players, coaches and staff will be available for interviews following all three practices. All interview requests must be made on site through André Brin, media coordinator for Team Canada or by contacting André Brin at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Toronto at 416-631-5752.
Team Canada leaves Sunday, April 25th for Stockholm, Sweden where they will continue training before heading to Norway on April 29th. Canada's flight (AC 856) leaves at 7pm.
Canada opens the 1999 World Championship on Saturday, May 1 against Slovakia. The two game gold medal final will be held May 15th and May 16th. Canada finished 6th in 1998 and won gold in 1997.
TSN and RDS will both televise the World Hockey Championship, starting May 9th with second round competition. All of Canada's games will also be broadcast on FAN 590 and several of Canada's games will be broadcast on OSR 1200 in Ottawa.
