Canada's National Men's Summer Under-18 Team Set for Start of 2011 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament
BRECLAV, Czech Republic – Canada's National Men's Summer Under-18 Team will begin its quest for gold on Monday, August 8 as the 2011 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament gets underway in Breclav, Czech Republic and Piestany, Slovakia.
Canada, which has won the tournament three straight years, will open the event against Sweden in Group A action in Breclav on Monday (9:30 a.m. ET/6:30 a.m. PT). It will be the first of three games in three days for Canada, which faces the Czech Republic on Tuesday and Switzerland on Wednesday during the preliminary round.
The top two teams from Group A and Group B will cross over for semifinals on Friday, August 12 before the gold and bronze medal games on Saturday, August 13.
Canada played one pre-tournament game in preparation for the tournament, defeating Slovakia 3-0 on Saturday in Piestany.
