KITCHENER, ON -- Brett McLean of the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League scored twice and added an assist to pace the National Junior Team hopefuls to a 6-4 victory over the Ontario University Athletic Association Eastern Division All-Stars on Tuesday night.

Daniel Corso of the Victoriaville Tigres of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Manny Malhotra of the Ontario Hockey League's Guelph Storm, Jean-Pierre Dumont of Val d'Or from the QMJHL and Josh Holden of the Regina Pats of the WHL also scored for Team Canada.

The game was the second of two exhibition games that were part of the six-day selection camp to choose the players who will compete for Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Helsinki, Finland from Dec. 25-Jan. 3. Head coach Réal Paiement of the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL, and assistants Peter DeBoer of the OHL's Plymouth Whalers and Terry Bangen, along with Barry Trapp, Canadian Hockey's Director of Scouting, must trim the roster from 26 to 22 players by today (Wednesday), when head coach Paiement will announce the team's final roster at a noon news conference at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex.

Wednesday evening, the National Junior Team departs from Pearson International Airport in Toronto for Sweden. The team will hold its pre-competition camp in Stockholm from Dec. 18-23 before travelling to Helsinki to defend the title it has won at the World Junior Championship the last five straight years.

Team Canada will play exhibition games against Sweden (Dec. 20) and Switzerland (Dec. 21) in Stockholm, and opens the 1998 World Junior Hockey Championship against Finland, the host club. The broadcast of the tournament opener will be seen on TSN and RDS, beginning at 11 a.m. EST.
