TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – STEINBACH PISTONS
What didn’t the Steinbach Pistons do well this season? After back-to-back-to-back seasons of playing second fiddle, the Pistons took over the title of best in Manitoba, earning 49 victories in 60 games to comfortably win their first regular-season title. Steinbach came flying out of the gate in the fall, putting up wins in its first 13 games, and never looked back. The Pistons topped the MJHL in goals for (249), goals against (124), power play (22.96%) and penalty killing (89.8%), and were a sparkling 28-2-0 on home ice. Mackenzie Graham and Bradley Schoonbaert were the point-producers up front, taking third and fourth, respectively, in the MJHL scoring race with 70+-point seasons, and leading an offence that had eight 30-point scorers. Roman Bengert backstopped the league’s best defence, finishing No. 1 in goals-against average (2.14) and save percentage (.926) while leading all goaltenders in minutes played (2,743).
