World Cup CANADA COMES HOME WITH SILVER Arvada, Colorado – Canada’s National Men’s Sledge Hockey Team captured a silver medal at the 2005 USA Cup losing to Norway 3-4 in a shootout (3-1). Team Canada had previously defeated Norway 6-0 earlier during the week and was looking at bringing home nothing less than gold. Canada fought hard throughout the game but fell short of their mission and their first loss of the 2004-2005 season. First period of play, both teams exchanged power play opportunities which Canada capitalizing on one at 11:23 mark from a shot by Billy Bridges right from the blueline stunning Norway goaltender. Norway finally got on the board at the 10:55 of the second period tying the game 1-1. Canada had two power play opportunities, but could not convert on any of them. In the third period of play Bridges added his second of the evening at 14:38 pulling Canada one goal ahead. Norway replied with their third goal of the evening at the 5 minute mark. Canada then tied the game with less than four minutes to play forcing a sudden death overtime period. After ten minutes of play both teams were held scoreless forcing a penalty shootout.
