CALGARY, Alta. – Canada’s National Women’s Team has announced Winnipeg as the second Canadian host for its six-game series against the U.S. Women’s National Team.

Canada’s 28-player centralization roster will face off against the United States on Dec. 5 at Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg. The final site for the Canadian portion of the series will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Bell MTS Place has a proven track record of hosting successful hockey games at an international level and we’re thrilled to welcome back Canada’s National Women’s Team on Dec. 5,” said Mark Chipman, executive chairman, True North Sports + Entertainment. “It’s always an honour for the City of Winnipeg and our venue to be selected as a host venue for Team Canada and we’re excited to once again showcase this high level of hockey to all our fans.”

In total, the Olympic hopefuls will play three games against their American rivals on the north side of the 49th parallel, with the series kicking off at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City on Oct. 22. Canada’s National Women’s Team will also take on Team USA south of the border on Oct. 25 (Boston, Mass.), Dec. 3 (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Dec. 15 (San Jose, Calif.).

“This series is an incredible opportunity to showcase women’s hockey in a best-on-best atmosphere and we’re looking forward to bringing that to cities across our country,” said Melody Davidson, Hockey Canada’s general manager of national women’s team programs. “As we continue to look ahead to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, this series marks another critical step in our preparation and will certainly be a fantastic opportunity for fans to watch the top players in North America battle in advance of puck-drop in PyeongChang.”

Presale opportunities to the Dec. 5 game will be available to Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose package holders beginning this week.  Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. CT and will be available for purchase online at www.ticketmaster.ca.

In addition, Canada’s National Women’s Team is scheduled to compete at the 2017 4 Nations Cup from Nov. 5-12 in Tampa, Fla., and will travel across Alberta from October to January to take on teams from the Alberta Midget Hockey League during the Where the Journey Begins series presented by Imperial Oil.

Canada’s National Women’s Team has won four-consecutive gold medals at the Olympic Winter Games and will go after a fifth when the puck drops on Feb. 11, 2018, in PyeongChang, South Korea.
