There was no TELUS Cup hangover for the defending national champions, who finished atop the Alberta Midget Hockey League standings for the third year in a row and enter the postseason looking for a fourth consecutive AMHL championship. Just as it has been in previous years, the defence led the way for the Chiefs – Red Deer allowed a league-low 55 goals in 34 games, 15 less than second-place St. Albert and a whopping 43 less than the Calgary Flames, who had the second-lowest mark in the South Division. Jayden Sittler and Matt Zentner shared the load between the pipes, sitting one-two, respectively, in both goals-against average (1.46 and 1.80) and save percentage (.925 and .923). The Red Deer offence scored at the fourth-best pace in the league with 133 goals, led by Jacob Schofield, whose 32 points (20 goals, 12 assists) left him 18th in AMHL scoring.
