HAT TRICKS FOR DUSIK, PAWLUK SEND MANITOBA TO SEMIS

SURREY, B.C. – Eight different players put Manitoba goals up on the scoreboard Friday night, with both Tessa Dusik (Oak Bluff, Man.) and Michelle Pawluk (Petersfield, Man.) contributing hat tricks to a blowout 13-0 win over struggling British Columbia.

Manitoba’s assault of the competition started early in the game, with Meghan Dufault (Winnipeg, Man.) giving her team its first of many goals just 27 seconds into the game, with Christine Bestland (Brunkild, Man.) receiving credit for the assist.

And that’s the momentum Manitoba would carry through the remainder of the matchup.

Caitlin MacDonald (Winnipeg, Man.) made it 2-0 for Manitoba about a minute later, while Dusik also scored before the first period was done. Both players scored on power plays.

Bestland opened up the second with one of her own, with Dusik and three other Manitobans contributing goals to make it 8-0 going into the third period.

Pawluk was all about the third, scoring on a power play at 6:01, and pocketing two more at 8:20 and 19:14 for the hat trick. Dusik helped make it double digits for Manitoba, with Kayleigh Wiens (Winkler, Man.) also putting one away in the third.

British Columbia will battle it out with Saskatchewan for better placement in the standings Saturday morning (10 a.m. PT), while Manitoba faces defending champions Ontario Red in the first semifinal of the night (5 p.m. PT).
