Canada’s National Women’s Under 22 Team captured a third consecutive Air Canada Cup by defeating Germany 13-0 in its final round robin game of the tournament at Duisburg, Germany on Saturday night.

The game was played in front of a crowd of just over 1000 fans which included 200 Canadian soldiers who had traveled from Geilenkirchen, Germany and Brunssum, Netherlands.  The team very much appreciated the support of the enthusiastic German Canadians who cheered loudly after every Team Canada goal throughout the evening.

Sabrina Harbec of Montreal, QC paced the Canadian attack with four goals while Ashley Riggs of Pickering, ON scored her second hat trick of the tournament.  Riggs had an eight point evening, while Harbec was not far behind, recording 6 points.  Other goal scorers were Kaley Hall (Calgary, AB), Noemie Marin (Acton Vale, QC), Meghan Agosta (Ruthven, ON), Chelsea Grills (Stittsville, ON), Katie Weatherston (Thunder Bay,ON) and Annie Guay (Rouyn Noranda, QC).  Team Canada held end of period leads of 2-0 and 7-0 at the end of the first and second periods, respectively.

Under 22 team veteran Meagan Walton of Calgary, AB was Canada’s player of the game while Britni Kehler of Mitchell, MB was named Top Goaltender of the tournament along with Riggs being selected as Top Forward of the tournament.  Jenni Hiirikoski of Finland  was named the Top Defender.
