MANITOBA WINS IN OT TO EARN SPOT IN GOLD MEDAL FINAL Charlottetown, PEI – Shelley Cockerill (Roblin, MB/Bears) scored at 2:30 of overtime to give Manitoba a 3-2 victory over Nova Scotia in semi-final play of the provincial pool at the 2008 Esso Women’s Nationals. Cockerill’s goal sends Manitoba to the gold medal game against PEI. Jayne Knowles (Newport, NS/Dalhousie University, CIS) scored the only goal of the first period to give Nova Scotia a 1-0 lead. Nova Scotia made it 2-0 on a goal by Kimberly Carcary at 3:51 of the second. Manitoba got on the board at 16:09 as Crystal Rochon (St. Adolphe, MB/Westman Selects) scored. It stayed 2-1 Nova Scotia until the 13:24 mark of the third, as Manitoba’s Devon Fingland (Lundar, MB/Westman Selects) tied the game on a power play.
