MINNESOTA HOLDS OFF BRAMPTON RALLY FOR 6-4 WIN Charlottetown, PEI – A three-goal third period helped the Minnesota Whitecaps earn a 6-4 win over the Brampton Canadette-Thunder on Thursday afternoon at the 2008 Esso Women’s Nationals. Minnesota led 3-0 after the first and 4-2 after the second. Brampton scored two goals in the third period to make it 5-4 but that was as close as the team would get as Jenny Potter scored an empty-net goal for Minnesota. Potter finished with two goals and two assists. Minnesota’s other goal scorers were Julie Chu, with a pair, Caroline Ouellette and Angela Ruggiero. Chu also had an assist for a three-point game. Brampton replied with goals from Molly Engstrom, Jayna Hefford, Tiffany Hagge and Lori Dupuis. Vicky Sunohara had three helpers in a losing cause for Brampton.
