TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – HUMBOLDT BRONCOS
Despite losing its top seven scorers from last year’s RBC Cup host team that reached the semifinals of the national championship, the Broncos won the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League regular season championship for the fourth time in six years, and sixth time since the 2002-03 season. Humboldt finished tied with the Yorkton Terriers at 36-14-4, but won the tiebreaker over the Terriers thanks to three wins in four games in the head-to-head series. While the Broncos’ offence was good, not great – finishing fourth in the league with 185 goals – the defence was the SJHL’s best, conceding only 120 goals. Matt Hrynkiw was named Goaltender of the Year, finishing with league-leading marks in goals-against average (1.83), save percentage (.939) and shutouts (six), while Joey Davies led the offensive charge with 56 points (27 goals, 29 assists), good for fifth in the SJHL scoring race.
