TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – DAUPHIN KINGS
When the Kings dropped three in a row from Oct. 6-10 to drop to 3-4-0, it seemed unlikely they would end up with the second-best record in team history and enter the MJHL playoffs as one of the hottest teams in the country. Since the calendar turned to 2013 Dauphin has come out on the losing end just once in 24 games, a 4-2 setback to Portage on Jan. 13, and won its final 20 games to pass the Winnipeg Blues and win its second MJHL regular season title in four years. The Kings had the league’s No. 2 offence, scoring just one goal less than Winnipeg, led by the trio of Jesse Synatynski, Jon Gaudet and Guillaume Naud, who were one-two-three in MJHL scoring. Jeremy Pominville carried the load in goal, posting league-leading numbers for wins (28), shutouts (five, tied for lead) and goals-against average (2.36).
