TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – OTTAWA JR. SENATORS
It has been 20 years since the Jr. Senators won the CCHL’s regular season championship; Ottawa last finished first in 1992-93, the same year it won the second of its three league titles. Thanks to five wins in their last six games, the Jr. Senators held off Carleton Place – which finished its season on a five-game winning streak – for top spot. Ottawa was a middle-of-the-pack team offensively, finishing sixth in the 12-team CCHL with 220 goals, while the defence was No. 2, allowing 175. Goaltender Charlie Millen finished fourth in goals-against average (2.65), tied for first in shutouts (six) and tied for second in wins (24), while back-up Alexandre Savard-Belanger was right behind Millen with a 2.68 GAA. Up front, Ryan Collins was the CCHL’s fifth-leading scorer, racking up 79 points (31 goals, 48 assists), while Ben Robillard (68 points) and Eric Clitsome (61 points) were the other Jr. Senators to crack the top 20.
