TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – MONCTON ROCKETS
With nine players returning from last year’s Atlantic Region champions, the Moncton Rockets once again easily won the NBFMAAAHL regular season title. The Rockets opened the season with a seven-game winning streak – and nine-game unbeaten run – and dropped only one game all year, a 2-1 setback to the second-place Northern Stars. Led by veterans Brooke Murphy, Morgan Porter and Faith Steeves, the Rockets featured eight of the league’s top 12 point-getters and scored 41 more goals than any other team. While the offence was doing its part, putting up more than five goals a game, netminders Emilie Arsenault and Brianne Waterman surrendered only 24 goals in the 18-game season – just over half as many as the next best goaltending tandem. Arsenault went 9-0-0 with two shutouts and a league-best .933 save percentage and 1.26 goals-against average.
