TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – RICHMOND HILL COYOTES
After back-to-back regular season titles, it took an almost-perfect performance to knock the Ajax/Pickering Raiders out of top spot in the ETA. The Richmond Hill Coyotes came out on the wrong end of a 5-0 decision against the Markham Waxers in their season opener on Sept. 29, but that would be the last time the Coyotes would taste defeat. Richmond Hill ran off a 31-game unbeaten streak to finish its 32-game schedule, posting 29 wins over that stretch, including 13 in a row to finish the season. The Coyotes had the ETA’s best offence thanks to 157 goals in 32 games, but its defence was even better; Richmond Hill allowed a league-low 46 goals, and gave up one or less in 22 of its 32 games.
