TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – EAST HANTS PENGUINS

Sometimes it isn’t how you start but how you finish. East Hants took only three of a possible eight points during the opening month and trailed Metro by seven points after 14 games. But over the season’s final 10 games the Penguins went unbeaten (9-0-1), while Metro won some, lost some (5-5-0). Thanks to that nine-point swing in the standings, East Hants ended Metro’s six-year run as NSFMAAAHL’s regular season champions. For the second straight season, Taylor Keeping led the league in scoring; after a four-goal cushion a year ago, the forward put up 13 more points than any other player this time around. Teammates Lauren Donovan and Maria Morefield joined her among the league’s top five, the trio leading the way for the NSFMAAAHL’s highest-scoring team. Kayla Diliberatore won eight games, three via shutout, with the league’s second-lowest goals-against average (1.09). Kate Spooner recorded two clean sheets of her own and posted a 1.50 goals-against average.
