Austin Lotz added to Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team training camp roster

April 08, 2013

TORONTO, Ont. - Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), announced Tuesday that goaltender Austin Lotz (St. Adolphe, Man./Everett, WHL) has been added to Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team training camp roster.

Lotz appeared in 42 games with the Silvertips this season, finishing with a 15-19-4 record, 3.37 goals-against average and .907 save percentage. He will travel to Sochi, Russia, on Wednesday with the rest of the camp roster to participate in pre-tournament games ahead of the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship.

The camp roster now includes 22 players – three goaltenders, seven defencemen and 12 forwards. Lotz is the 11th player on the roster who competed at the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Hockey Canada has invited select under-age players that will travel to Sochi, Russia, and play in pre-competition games to get added experience playing international competition before returning to Canada prior to the start of the tournament. Players that have been eliminated from the CHL playoffs will be added to complete the roster for the world championship.

Canada will play two pre-tournament games before the IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship, on April 14 against the United States and April 16 against the Czech Republic. Canada will open the tournament on April 18 against Slovakia.
