GANGNEUNG, South Korea – For the first time, Hockey Canada’s online auction will feature jerseys signed by Canada’s National Sledge Team competing at the 2017 IPC World Para Hockey Championship. From April 17–21, five jerseys will be up for bid in support of the Hockey Canada Foundation.

Hosted on eBay.ca, the online auction raises funds for the Hockey Canada Foundation to support the growth of the game. Recently, the Foundation has committed funding for sledge-friendly facilities, including as part of its legacies from the 2016 and 2017 annual Gala & Golf fundraiser.

“The proceeds from these online auctions allow us to give back to the game. Hockey fans are able to collect memorabilia from their national team heroes, while supporting the sport,” said Donna Iampieri, executive director of the Hockey Canada Foundation. “Sledge hockey is becoming more popular and we want to ensure that the game is accessible to players interested in the sledge version of the sport. That does require changes to facilities, and we’re proud to have supported those projects and other programming needs in Canada through the Foundation.”

Canada’s National Sledge Team is currently in action at the 2017 IPC World Para Hockey Championship in Gangneung, South Korea. Canada meets Germany to finish off the round-robin on Tuesday, April 18 at 10 p.m. ET; games can be viewed on Facebook Live (CDNParalympics). Medal games are set to be played April 19.

The auction runs through Monday, April 17–21. Winning bidders will be able to select the name-bar and numbers for their jersey. Shipping will commence on May 15.
