CALGARY, Alta. – With four months to go before the start of the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, Canada’s National Sledge Team is set to face Korea in its first international series of the 2017-18 season.

As part of the September Showcase and selection camp, Team Canada hosted the Koreans for a series of games, with Canada’s split squad roster defeating Korea in all four exhibition matches.

Canada will continue its Paralympic preparations with a three-game series Nov. 5-9 in Gangneung, South Korea.

“With our training and preparations both on and off the ice, it is important for us as a team to be as prepared as possible once the Paralympics begin,” said head coach Ken Babey. “The opportunity to face the Korean team now, as well as the upcoming World Sledge Hockey Challenge and a series against the U.S. are all stepping stones to our success as we continue to evaluate ourselves prior to the Paralympics next March in PyeongChang.”

Among those on the Team Canada roster are 16 players (Armstrong, Arsenault, Bowden, Bridges, Cozzolino, Dixon, Gemmell, Henry, Hickey, Larocque, McGregor, Sholomicki, Smith, Sorley, Watson and Westlake) who won gold at the 2017 IPC World Para Hockey Championship in Gangneung last April - which will be the para hockey venue for the Paralympic Games, where Canada will seek its second-ever gold medal.
