HELSINKI, Finland – Hockey Canada announced Saturday the addition of defenceman Kyle Quincey (Kitchener, Ont./Detroit, NHL) to Canada’s National Men’s Team roster for the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, bringing Canada’s roster to 24 players, including three goaltenders, eight defencemen and 13 forwards.

Quincey will be representing Hockey Canada for the first time in official international play. The defenceman did dress for Canada for two exhibition games prior to the 2005 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Canada’s management for the world championship is comprised of general manager Kevin Lowe, Hockey Canada's vice-president of hockey operations and national teams Brad Pascall, and assistant general managers, Peter Chiarelli (Ottawa, Ont./Boston, NHL) and Dave Nonis (Burnaby, B.C./Toronto, NHL). Hockey Canada can add additional players over the course of the championship, with a limit of 25 players on the official roster.

Canada’s world championship management is also supported by members of Canada’s National Men’s Team management group, comprised of executive director Steve Yzerman (Nepean, Ont./Tampa Bay, NHL), Doug Armstrong (Sarnia, Ont./St. Louis, NHL), Ken Holland (Vernon, B.C./Detroit, NHL), Bob Nicholson (Penticton, B.C./Hockey Canada), Lowe and Pascall.

The 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship runs from May 4-20, in Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden, with Canada based out of Helsinki for the entire event. Canada opened up with a 3-2 win over Slovakia on May 4, and faces the United States on May 5. All of Canada’s games will be aired on TSN/RDS. Check your local listings for game times in your area.
