Canada's National Men's Under-18 Team Advances to Quarter-Finals at 2011 IIHF World Under-18 Championship
CRIMMITSCHAU, Germany – Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team has earned a place in the quarter-finals at the 2011 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, finishing second in Group B with a 3-1 record. Canada scored victories over the Czech Republic (5-0), Finland (5-4) and Norway (5-0) before falling to Sweden in its preliminary round finale (4-2).
Canada will play Germany on in Crimmitschau on Thursday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m. ET/10:30 a.m. PT, a game which can be seen live on TSN and RDS, Hockey Canada’s official broadcasters (check your local listings). With a win, Canada would advance to the semifinals on Saturday to face the United States.
Canada is attempting to win its third gold medal at the IIHF World Under-18 Championship, having previously taken home the top prize in 2003 in Yaroslavl, Russia, and 2008 in Kazan, Russia.
TSN/RDS, the official broadcasters of Hockey Canada, will broadcast Canada’s final preliminary round game against Sweden on Tuesday, April 19, a quarter-final on Thursday, April 21, a semifinal on Saturday, April 23 and both medal games on Sunday, April 24.
