NOVA SCOTIA CHAMPIONS – METRO BOSTON PIZZA

Metro Boston Pizza, a team based out of Nova Scotia's capital city, will undoubtedly be hungry for a gold medal win when it heads to Montague, P.E.I. later this month for the Atlantic Female Midget Championship, especially since the squad has settled for silver at the regional tournament for the past two seasons. Metro fell to Hockey New Brunswick's Northern Stars in 2009 and Moncton Office Interior Ricoh Rockets in 2010, which meant not only coming up short at the Atlantic Female Midget Championship, but also losing out on two chances to compete against the top female midget teams from across the country at the Esso Cup. Perhaps the 2010-11 season will be the Halifax team's time to shine. Metro swept the Cape Breton Ferguson's PharmaChoice Screaming Eagles with three straight wins in a best-of-five semifinal series and continued that hot streak through the best-of-five final series against the East Hants Pro Cresting Penguins, en route to becoming this year's Nova Scotia Female Midget AAA Hockey League provincial champions for a third straight year. Only time will tell if Metro's winning trend will continue through regionals and, perhaps, nationals.
