CALGARY, AB – A number of initiatives relating to the development of hockey will be discussed during Hockey Canada’s annual general meeting, which opens on Thursday, May 8th in Quebec City, QC and runs through May 10th.
More than 250 representatives from regional and provincial hockey associations in Canada will meet in Quebec City
for Hockey Canada’s 89th AGM. All meetings will be held at the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac.
Hockey Canada’s board of directors will be joined by Hockey Canada life members, partner organizations and
councils – female, junior, minor, senior, and hockey development – to discuss the initiatives that will
benefit the development of the game in Canada.
Among the items on this year’s agenda are:
- Minor hockey summit
- Hockey Canada’s strategic plan and objectives for 2008-09
- Long-term strategy to 2010
- Technology
- Shortage of athletic facilities in Canada
- Acknowledgement of departing board members
- Establishing the locations of future national championships
- Election of a new Hockey Canada Referee-in-Chief
- Announcing of the 2008 Hockey Canada award winners
