CALGARY, AB – Hockey Canada’s exclusive auction of items from the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship in Pardubice and Liberec, Czech Republic – including game-worn jerseys, helmets and gloves – ends on Wednesday, January 9th. The auction is available at www.ebay.ca  and www.hockeycanada.ca.

Canada won a fourth consecutive gold medal at the IIHF World Junior Championship with a 3-2 overtime win over Sweden on Saturday.

The eBay items are one of a kind and game worn by members of Canada’s gold medal-winning National Junior Team, and all items come with a letter of authenticity from Hockey Canada.

Among the jerseys that hockey fans have a chance to win via the auction are those of Steve Mason, the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship Most Valuable Player and Top Goaltender, Drew Doughty, the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship Top Defenseman, John Tavares, one of Canada’s leading goal scorers at the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship and the 2007 Canadian Hockey League Player of the Year, and two-time IIHF World Junior Championship gold medalists Karl Alzner – Canada’s captain – and Brad Marchand.

Net proceeds raised through this 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship auction go to Hockey Canada, to assist with the funding of national development programs, national teams and Hockey Canada initiatives that promote the sport at the grassroots level.
